Romanian Testore
We have a new bass from the “Enescu” workshop in Reghin Romania. With a form inspired by an instrument made by Carlo Antonio Testore and made famous by Bottesini, this instrument features a beautiful round back and sides made from flamed Lombardy poplar. This is a great looking bass, with double purflng and prominent antiquing.
Some dimensions:
lower bout width 25 1/4″
upper bout width 19″
length of back 44″
string length 41 1/4″
We installed a new Josef Klier East African fingerboard and then did a lot a neck reshaping. The bass has a dark and powerful midrange due to the poplar, but maintains a bright attack with the Pirastro Flexocore Deluxe strings. Also, the size and string length are very manageable.
Includes a Despiau bridge and New Harmony carbon endpin.
