Shen SB 300 Mirecourt

We have another new Mirecourt model from Shen.  This is a fully carved 3/4 size bass with an outline inspired by French pear shaped basses.  The wide lower bout width is contrasted with sloping shoulders to give the bass a large sound combined with great access to the upper register.

The wood was well chosen on this, incorporating nicely flamed and spalted maple, along with  a straight grained bookmatched spruce top. The oil varnish is a dark reddish brown.

Set up with a Despiau bridge, Ullsperger 10mm endpin and Pirastro Evah Pirazzi weich strings. Nice big sound and projection with the bow, with an even  pizz. punch across the range.
